The last time I saw Shemekia was at House of Blues when she was 18 and I was, (a lot) younger. Now at age 32, she has really developed her command and comfort of the stage. She is also hilarious. Whether she was joking around or exercising her vocal chops, the audience was in bliss.
Since there is absolutely no photography or video allowed at OTS (and I was a volunteer usher and could not "plead ignorant" of these rules) I am posting Shemekia's video of "Never Going Back to Memphis" from her Letterman show (2009):
